THREE CORE AREAS

Spirituality: Our goal is for people to have encounter with God Almighty through the power of the Holy Spirit, who bring transformation and regeneration in people’s lives.

Education: Our ministry will work toward promoting easier access to education for both children and adults. Education helps eradicate poverty and hunger, giving people the chance of better lives.

Health: We will work to promote good health in any community where we function as a ministry. Good health is an important enabler of positive family and community life. It enables people to participate in, and contribute to, society in different ways.

FOUR AREAS OF OPERATION

Refreshing Time Ministries has four areas of operation: Christian discipleship, Christian leadership, spiritual renewal, and church planting/ growth. We achieve these by organizing seminars, workshops, Annual camp meeting featuring among other things three days of fasting and prayer to provide opportunities for personal spiritual growth through having encounter with God.

CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP

The purpose of Christian discipleship is to develop individuals who will become more like Christ. Our ministry’s objective is to produce men and women who will emulate the character of Christ (1 Peter 2:21).

Jesus Christ left a wonderful legacy that we should follow in His steps. Another purpose of discipleship is to grow in our knowledge of God by developing a hunger of studying His word which reveals in detail all that we need to know about Him.

Christian discipleship goes with bearing fruit for the kingdom as we constantly remain in the vine (John 15:1-6). The character virtues acquired by remaining in the vine carries the responsibility of spreading the gospel, thereby winning souls for the kingdom.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life’” (John 8:12). Then in Matthew 5:14-16, He said again, “You are the light of the world, a city on a hillCannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” We are commanded to take the light we are given and spread it around the world to others so that they may see Christ and receive Him for themselves.

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP

Christ-centered leadership is needed in the Christendom to develop and equip men and women of God for the work of ministry. The aim is to produce people who are committed to developing and achieving their full potential in Christ. We provide leadership principles that would enable Christians to deepen their relationship and understand God’s purpose for their lives.

Christian leaders can follow Jesus’ example of seeking God for insight into His will and for strength. Becoming more like Christ is a lifelong process for all Christians, and leaders need to make time to grow spiritually.

Good leaders motivate others, and the person who demonstrated this example was Nehemiah. He was fearless and as he laid out a vision, shared a plan and reassured the people that God was with them in their endeavor.

Our desire is to produce men and women of integrity who would stand to defend the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in this generation and beyond. Our motto is spelt out in this acronym “PADDI.” Which stand for Probity, Accountability, Discipline, Dedication, and Integrity. Any man or woman that acquires these principles will be a useful instrument in God’s hand for this generation.

CHURCH PLANTING/ GROWTH

The complexity involved in church growth has made some people to ask questions such as: how relevant are the church growth principles practiced in 19th and 20th centuries applicable to the 21st century churches? Are there more suitable principles to be employed to achieve desirable results in modern churches, where internet and social media play certain roles? Is there any way technological advancement should be employed in 21st century churches to be relevant to our time?

To delve into the issues raised above, we must acknowledge that the world in which we live is dynamic and as such, we can agree that we need to modify our methods as regards to church organization, but not the message. Undoubtedly, the message of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ does not change with time, but the method of delivering it might change as we adapt to the modern technologies. With this understanding, it is imperative to find means that will appeal to the unchurched without compromising the message of the gospel.

To be relevant and impact our society, we need empowering leadership, inspired worship through continual submission to the Holy Spirit, need-oriented evangelism geared toward effective soul-winning and constant evaluation of methods to make it relevant.

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Spiritual renewal is a process of growth and transformation which comes as one seeks after God by employing various spiritual disciplines, such as studying God’s word, prayer, engaging in biblical meditation and fasting. It is embedded in the notion that only God can satisfy the hungry

soul, as the Psalmist expressed: “As a deer pants after the water brook so my soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” (Ps. 42:1-2).

When does a person need spiritual renewal? What are the signs that an individual needs revival? When there is no motivation for the things of God; lack of inner drive for spiritual things; when personal spiritual life becomes stagnant; when there is spiritual dryness, and everything seems so drudgery; then it is time to cry out to God to rekindle the inner fire that would increase the spiritual stamina to move to higher height in the Lord. The Psalmist cried, “Will you not revive us again? (Psalm 85:6).

Spiritual renewal begins from the heart, there must be spiritual heart transplant for a revival to occur. A transformed heart is a renewed heart, and a renewed heart is a revived life, the 5Rs of spiritual renewal are necessary factors: repentance, return, renewal, revival and restoration.
